Project name | The Project for Urgent Replacement of Bridges in Flood-Prone Areas |
---|---|
Area | Cambodia |
Season | Jul., 2018 ~ Nov., 2020 |
Field | Roads, Bridges and Transport |
The project area is a trunk road located in the flood plain on the left bank of the Mekong River, therefore, it also plays an important role as a detour route when National Highway 1 is blocked by floods and other disasters. In this way, this road reduce the vulnerability of the transportation network to natural disasters. However, despite the fact that the seven temporary bridges to be supported by this project are vulnerable to flooding, the maintenance of the roads and bridges has been delayed because they are located in rural areas. By improving these seven bridges, safe and smooth traffic and logistics can be ensured.
